SynergyFunds

Methods for implementing the research questions: As an innovative method for strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, SynergyFunds are initiated to finance joint feasibility studies in the context of RobustNature. The joint studies serve as concrete possibilities for collaborative proposals as well as the writing joint international publications. In the first funding round of the SynergyFunds in RobustNature, 11 project proposals were approved. Projects are characterized by the funding of scientists in early career stages, by the participation of many departments, working groups and (inter)national external partners. The approved projects show the great success of this initiative: mainly young scientists are supported, with 63 % of PIs leading the projects within the first 7 years after PhD. The strong networking within the framework of the SynergyFunds is shown by an average of eight involved scientists from up to five participating departments and institutions and up to two external partners.
